They say, “It takes a village to raise a child” and Chicdriven firmly believes in this, so last October 7&8, Chicdriven Women Empowerment Expo brought together women from different backgrounds, social status and beliefs to share, inspire and empower other women in the nurturing roles they play.

Chicdriven started as a newspaper column that evolved into a movement to help women in their different journeys. Now on its 3rd year, the expo continuously involves different women’s groups to enrich the advocacy.

Opening the nurture leg of the expo were Trina Biazon, Chairperson and Program Director of the Gender and Development (GAD) Office of Muntinlupa; Tintin San Juan, Alabang Zonta Club President; Mazda’s Mr. David Asuncion, PLDT’s Ms. Maan Del Carmen and  veteran TV host, author and Moneywise host Ms. Christine Bersola-Babao.

In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Zonta Club of Alabang, the GAD Office and the City Health Office (CHO) together with Chicdriven offered once again the “Dibdib ko, Mahal ko” program at the Expo which included Breast Cancer Awareness Talk & Seminar by Dra. Magdalena Meana and Dra. Angelica Arciaga of Muntinlupa City Health Office; and free breast screening which was availed by almost 300 women during the expo.

The Parenting seminar was presented by PLDT Home Fibr. Speakers of the segment were digital/family specialist, Michelle Alignay and positive discipline expert, Clarisse Talavera. Dermatologist Anna Palabyab Rufino and Mazda Dealer Principal Lizette Laus- Velasco, were both part of the panel discussion to share their parenting styles as well.

Chefs Rolando and Jaquiline Laudico gave a food demo on healthy holiday dishes and Cristina Hinlo and Atty. Amanda Bengson gave an Essential Oils 101 seminars which completed the La Germania Home Matters Seminar.

The first day was concluded with a road safety seminar conducted by TRS Driver Development Academy’s JP Tuason and Billy Bilano. A special segment called Mazda Drives brought together women of all ages to discuss the hot topic of gender stereotypes in “Babae kasi.”

Day 2 started with the Better You Seminar to talk about skin, body and hair issues. Model moms Mikaela Martinez and Kelly Misa openly shared their journey to achieve their pre pregnancy weight and form with the help of Marie France. A talk on skin care and hair care were also conducted by Bioderma’s Dr. Irene Gaile Robredo-Vitas and L’oreal Professionel’s Cyril Tablante.

Coach Pia Acevedo of One Core Coaching led a capsule seminar on clarity; she discussed that there are some non-negotiables in your life that should remain as such, so that we are anchored on these truths.   Couples Angelo & Pepper Lozada and Ryan & Sheila Banzali talked about how to improve your relationship with your significant other as well as the importance of date night and open communication.

The event ended with a Parent and Child Passion Show featuring James Deakin, Lala Dinglasan, Arnee Hidalgo, and Christine Jacob-Sandejas to name a few. All of the participants shared their tips on positivism as they showcased the clothes provided by Esprit, British India and Osh Kosh, shoes by Butterfly Twists, hair by L’oreal Professionel and Azta Urban Salon and make up by Estee Lauder.
