[fusion_text]I saw “IT Girl” Anne Curtis once in Discovery Shores Boracay in a bikini and everybody on the beach suddenly became insecure in their swimsuits. She was really pretty in person, petite but very sexy. When I was about to run and grab a pair of jeans to hide my stretch marks and cellulite ridden legs(which with a little orange self tanner can pass as a tiger body art or costume) I noticed that Anne was human, and had cellulite too. Not as much as I have but a hint enough to make me reconsider putting on my pants and enjoy the day in the sun.
It’s very hard to be a woman nowadays. We are bombarded by images of perfection, from TV, to magazines etc. Not helping are our own exaggerated expectations to be like them. No matter how much disclaimer companies put regarding retouching photos, it does not erase our desire to look as perfect and cellulite free like the models in those ads. It’s not real and it gives young girls a really bad representation and message in terms of their looks. No one looks the same or as has perfect skin. Even those really healthy and well maintained ladies have imperfections here and there; I guess the moral of the story as I usually tell my kids: make the most with what was given to you.
So just to lift the spirits of my fellow cellulite and stretch mark ridden chicdriven girls for bikini season.
